I'm Alin, I'm 29 years old, I'm a trail runner, running coach and sports nutritionist from Romania.
OUT: How long have you been running/ trail running? (why do you run)
I started practicing trail running in 2014. I run because I feel free, I love nature and mountains and I'm always discovering new places. I also am a very competitive runner and I want to be better and better every year. My dream is to become one of the best trail runners in Europe.
OUT: What do you enjoy most about trail running?
I think the freedom. On the mountains I feel unstoppable, I feel that no one or nothing can stop me.
OUT: Do you have a memorable running experience/story to share with us? (or your biggest achievement)
I think the most memorable running experience was winning my first ultramarathon 5 years ago. I really didn't expected that, I simply wanted to enjoy the race and finish it without serious damage. It was the day that I remember most often when I think of my past.
OUT: How do you stay motivated when the going gets tough?
I try to be concentrated on the things that I can do in that moment, not on the things I cannot do.
OUT: What are your top three "little things" that you do to prevent injury?
Periodization of the training volume and intensity, listening to my body and good sleep.
OUT: If you could give a single piece of advice to less experienced trail runners what would it be?
Believe in the process! You will not be faster and stronger day after day. It is natural to have tough days, and those days don't make you weaker, it will make you stronger. Be consistent and have patience!
