OUT: Please introduce yourself to our followers.
AI: I am Asimina, I like to be a citizen of the world, to travel, not to stay in one place, but I manage to get to know as much of the world as possible, full of cultured people! Born in 1979 in Greece, at a young age I became a lucky mother of two wonderful girls who are my beacon and my strength! I love not only running but anything that has to do with nature and can have adrenaline.
OUT: How long have you been running/ trail running? (why do you run)
AI: I entered the world of trail running, not even 10 years ago. I feel freedom and I love the loneliness that you feel on the mountains, running across the trails. By running in the trails I feel the adventure; the whole thing doesn't allow you to cool down. When I run on the road I feel secure despite that you may run a long distance, in the mountain instead you always have a strange feeling arising from adrenaline and this is the reason that it keeps me close to that.
OUT: What do you enjoy most about trail running?
AI: The fairies! Especially when I run continuous nights awake, they keep me company!
OUT: Do you have a memorable running experience/story to share with us? (or your biggest achievement)
AI: I had the greatest satisfaction feeling in "Tor des Geants", especially when I managed to finish the race for a second time. It was my first time that I experienced illusions; it was something like a torture because I was trying to get out of what I was seeing around me.
OUT: How do you stay motivated when the going gets tough?
AI: I'm thinking of real life, how hard I struggled all these years there, so fighting in a race seems to be funny after all. I remind myself what exactly I want and the reason for being there and making the race.
OUT: What are your top three "little things" that you do to prevent injury?
AI: Cool workouts in training, even though I usually run long distances I don't use to train hard.
OUT: If you could give a single piece of advice to less experienced trail runners what would it be?
AI: Experience is something that you gain hard and many times contains disappointment and pain. You have to suffer the experience in order to obtain it. Try to fight for the best result but always remember that the real winner is who lasts more time in what he involves and he is not part of what we call fireworks in life.
