OUT: Please introduce yourself to our followers.
ER: My name is Elena Rtoska, and I'm a passionate trail runner and software developer from the beautiful country of Macedonia. When I'm not writing code, you can find me hitting the trails, pushing my limits, and enjoying the stunning views that nature has to offer. I'm excited to share my journey with you and inspire you to join me at the starting line of OUT23!

OUT: How long have you been running/ trail running? (why do you run)
ER: I've been an active runner since 2017. For me, trail running offers a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with nature. It's not just about the physical benefits, although those are certainly important. It's also about the mental and emotional benefits of spending time in the great outdoors and experiencing the beauty of the mountains. So in short, I run because it's good for my body, mind, and soul.

OUT: What do you enjoy most about trail running?
ER: In trail running, especially in sky running, I enjoy the beautiful views followed by technical terrain, as well as the ambient environment that the mountain offers.

OUT: Do you have a memorable running experience/story to share with us? (or your biggest achievement)
ER: Every run, whether it's training or a race, is filled with interesting memories. Of course, as a bigger accomplishment, I would highlight the world and European Skyrunning championships in the Pyrenees and Alps, UTMB-OCC and Istria by UTMB in which I have achieved individual results and a podium, and also the national championships in Skyrunning and mountain running in which I have participated, as well as many other achievements from international and local races.

OUT: How do you stay motivated when the going gets tough?
ER: Tough moments are part of the game and always go together with pleasures. For that reason, my motivation stays high in those moments. The spirit of the events, the energy of friends, and the environment in the mountains keep my motivation up during hard times.

OUT: What are your top three "little things" that you do to prevent injury?
ER: Quality sleep, controlled and adjusted training, and a healthy diet.

OUT: If you could give a single piece of advice to less experienced trail runners what would it be?
ER: Listen to your body's signals and maintain consistency in your training.

Elena had an amazing story to share and definitely a lot of helpful advice. If you want to see and hear more from her feel free to check out her ITRA profile , Facebook page , Instagram profile.
